IBM has added new software and services to its portfolio of tools for improving the energy efficiency of buildings and has struck new deals with Autodesk, which joins its industry alliance, the Green Sigma Coalition, and Schneider Electric, an energy management specialist, to develop tools that monitor and help reduce buildings’ energy use.
The new offerings include the Smarter Building Solution, an updated version of IBM’s Maximo Asset Management, Myincentivefinder – which automates the process of earning incentives for energy efficiency upgrades, and Sustainability Management System.
IBM’s tools allow real-time energy use data to be collected by building management systems from other companies such as Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls, Honeywell/Tridium and Eaton and fed into its systems such as Maximo Asset Management software. This tool analyses the data and enables real-time improvements in operations.
The company is installing the new Smarter Building Solution at its headquarters in Armonk, New York, and its manufacturing facility in Rochester, Minnesota. The system brings together information from a Johnsons Controls system, electricity meters, weather monitors and the Maximo system.
